Headlines
- The Who are coming back with their first tour of North America in four years. Remaining band members Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend will embark on a 37 date tour starting in November. The tour will be a memorable one for fans as the band plans to perform their 1973 critically acclaimed album Quadrophenia in its entirety. Via Ultimate Classic Rock
- Elton John has garnered a No. 1 album in the U.K. for the first time in 22 years! The album titled ‘Good Morning to the Night’ is a collaboration effort by Australian trance duo Pnau who took much of Elton’s catalogue from the 1970’s and reworked it for a modern sound. The success of the album should be taken with a large grain of salt however. The album is the lowest-selling No. 1 album to date this century. Could this be an indicator of the nature of the music industry today and where album sales are headed? Via Billboard
- Bob Dylan will mark his 50th anniversary as an artist with a new album called ‘Tempest’ due to be released on September 11. The album will be Dylan’s 35th overall and his first work since 2009. The amount of tracks is not yet known. Via Ultimate Classic Rock
- Snopp Dogg just released the first single for his upcoming album titled "La La La". The single along with the entire album will be done in a reggae style. To prove that he is all about the new musical direction Snoop is changing his name to Snoop Lion for the album. Via Pitchfork
- Speaking of new tracks, here is new material from Rick Ross. In preparation for his new album God Forgives, I Don’t Ricky Rozay has released the single ‘Three Kings’ which features an all-star cast of Jay-Z, Dr. Dre and Mr. Ross. Listen to the new song here via Pretty Much Amazing
